Join Arizona Scenic Tours to take the “Grand Canyon Loop Tour” for a scenery filled day at the Canyon, and visit overlooks at the Grand Canyon Village, Yavapai Point, and Mather Point, for incredible views of the canyon! We will visit 3 to 4 overlooks while at the South Rim National Park, including the Geology Museum, El Tovar Historic Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge, and the Canyon Visitor Center. This tour makes the most of a one-day journey to the Grand Canyon. On the way to the National Park, we will make a stop at the Williams Route 66 historic district for 30 minutes where you can explore some of the Route nostalgia. At the Grand Canyon, there will be time afforded for you to have your packed lunches, at rimside tables with Canyon views.
It will be an enjoyable 11-mile full day hike starting from Camp, going out to Thumb Butte (6200 Ft. /1890 M), and then returning to Camp mostly along different trails. Thumb Butte is a prominent landmark, being a small mountain at the edge of Prescott. It is one of the most popular destinations in Prescott National Forest. Between camp and Thumb Butte, there is a nice variety of trails to explore filled with ponderosa pines and nice scenery. This area is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, rabbits, lizards, snakes and birds.
This hike will have a total elevation of around 1150 Ft. (350 M), with 635 Ft. (194 M) of it during the 0.6 Mile (1 KM) push to the top of Thumb Butte. At Thumb Butte, you will enjoy great views of Prescott, Granite Mountain, Mingus Mountain, and The Bradshaws. At the top of Thumb Butte, you can pay your respects at a monument to the fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots, and also scamper to the summit. Expect the usual Arizona sun, but with some shade areas along the way. Decent hiking shoes, hat and plenty of water recommended.
This 5-mile hike starts with the ascent of Thumb Butte and then takes you back to Camp via the trail system in Prescott National Forest. The area between Thumb Butte and Camp offers ponderosa pine forests, a comfortable picnic area, and a variety of trails to explore. The ascent of Thumb Butte is 0.6 mile (1 km) climb with a vertical ascent of 650' (200 m). At the top, you can take in the views of the surrounding area, pay your respects at a monument to the fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots, and also scamper to the summit. The group will then continue along the Thumb Butte Trail, taking in more views of Prescott, before turning off onto another trail and heading towards Camp. Expect the usual Arizona sun, but some shade areas along the way. Decent hiking shoes, hat and plenty of water recommended.
Sierra Prieta is a ridge located to the west of Camp. This 6-mile out-and-back hike starts from Camp and will take you through Prescott National Forest to a very nice overlook with good views to the west, including the Mingus and Bradshaw mountains. Heading out, the trail will gradually rise as you take in the area. Prescott National Forest is home to stands of Ponderosa pines, and also to a variety of wildlife including deer, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, rabbits, lizards, snakes and birds. Expect the usual Arizona sun, but some shade areas along the way. Decent hiking shoes, hat and plenty of water recommended.
This is called a "lollipop" hike because of the original shape of the hike's route, not your ability to find candy along the way. However, it has been modified to be a somewhat easier figure-8 route that is more in keeping with the easy-to-moderate rating.
This will be a 4-mile hike starting from and ending at camp. The first 0.6 miles will out to a 5-way intersection north of camp. (This was the "stick" of the lollipop,) Then the hike will be a loop through the woods in Prescott National Forest back to this intersection. From there, two other tails will bring us back to Camp, creating a second loop. This will be a sweet hike with some ups and downs but no serious elevation gain at any one time. Expect the usual Arizona sun, but this area has plenty of Ponderosa pine trees and offers a fair amount of shade along the way. Decent hiking shoes, hat and plenty of water recommended.
Soul Ride will come to Camp to do a mountain biking skills class (1.5 hours long) followed a mountain biking ride along the trail near Camp (also 1.5 hours long). Soul Ride will provide the bikes, instructors and guides for this activity.
Soul Ride offers Prescott area mountain bike classes to new riders who want to learn how to ride a mountain bike in a non-threatening, safe environment. Their mountain bike classes are designed for people who have always wanted to learn how to mountain bike but have reservations about getting on a bike, or the novice rider that wants to brush up their bike skills. Their skills classes will get you up and riding with confidence.
This hike will take you along the Thumb Butte Trail, a very popular 2.5 mile (4 km) loop trail that passes close to the Thumb Butte summit. Thumb Butte is a prominent landmark, being a small mountain at the edge of Prescott. It gets its name from the large stony outcrop that forms its summit and very much sticks out like a thumb. The ascent of Thumb Butte is a 0.6 mile (1 km) climb with a vertical ascent of 650' (200 m). At the top, you can take in the views of the surrounding area, pay your respects at a monument to the fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots, and also scamper to the summit. The group will then continue along the Thumb Butte Trail, taking in more views of Prescott. After that, the trail turns back towards and gradually descends to the parking area.
For those who are interested in a short but pleasant hike, this is for you. It will be a 2-mile stroll starting from the back of camp and using three of the nearby trails. This will allow you to explore the Prescott National Forest area near Camp. We will start along an old road for the first part of the hike, ascending to a junction where several trails meet. From there, we will follow a mountain path which heads south past camp until we come to another trail which will take us back to the starting point.

The Low Ropes Courses at Camp Stein enables participants to work together, challenge themselves and conquer fears. Led by camp staff, this will be a fun and invigorating way to spend an afternoon.
We'll walk the trails around camp and see what we can find. Dave Liebman, our very own naturalist, and award-winning photographer is a walking encyclopedia, so even though we may not go far, we're guaranteed to learn something new!
Enjoy a three to four mile out-and-back hike along a trail leading south from Camp. We will take trail 393 from the back to Camp until it reaches Copper Basin Road, and then return the way we came. This will be an opportunity to explore another section of Prescott National Forest near Camp.

Enjoy the sports fields, courts and courses at camp on your own. Camp Stein has a sports field, tennis courts (bring your rackets/balls), one volleyball court, one indoor sports court, and one outdoor sports court. The camp has basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, and baseball bats/balls. Bring your baseball mitt. There is also Ga-ga (Israeli Dodgeball). Included.
